Come Into the Garden, Maud* - I
When we first arrived at the house there was only two stalks of columbines - now they have self-seeded and are scattered around the yard. They just seem to pop-up anywhere - which is fine with me.
*Come into the garden, Maud, For the black bat, night, has flown, Come into the garden, Maud, I am here at the gate alone ; And the woodbine spices are wafted abroad, And the musk of the rose is blown. Alfred, Lord Tennyson - 1895
gorgeous! such huge heads!! is that nora barlow? we have such a difficult time getting them to self seed. we have to use piles of mulch to make it through summer, and the seeds just don't do as well on mulch as they would on soil. i am green, green, green with envy.
