Lunedi Lunacy

Until my blog buddy Sling posted a wonderful item last week about the Smothers Brothers, I had forgotten how funny and talented a pair they were. I got a few of their earlier albums when I was a member of some record club - remember record clubs? And then as Sling recalls they got their own TV show and every Sunday night we were treated to some of the funniest, and most subversive, comedy on TV. That and the music - often the comedy hide what superb musicians they were. After you've finished laughing just give it another listen for the music. Those guys knew what they were doing - big time.

Back in '66 or '67, shortly after Dad left for greener pastures, Mom scraped some money together and she treated my brother and me to a day at the CNE and tickets to the Smothers Brothers on the grandstand!

I always felt sorry for Tommy..
Dick had a dog for a pet growing up,and all Tommy had was a stupid chicken.
I love these guys!

I loved this show when I was a kid- they were much more talented than their act revealed.

Amazing watching some of their older stuff after all these years' not thinking of them. Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

How such political "incorrectness" (and democratic freedom of speech) of the time could have ever gotten by the censors, when today only those that adhere to the agreed "consensus" are allowed to speak, it seems.

Scary how far the backsliding has gone down the slippery slope towards impotence of the populace.
