Lunedi Lunacy

In honour of our move to the New World a look into the golden age of steamship travel.

Looks a little less crowded than some of the economy cabins of a few airlines that will remain nameless.

Now Is the End

According to the calculations of an American Tele-evangelist the world is going to end later today. Apparently, like New Year's Eve celebrations, its going to happen time zone by time zone at 6 PM local time starting somewhere between Pago Pago, American Samoa, and Nuku'alofa, Tonga. To celebrate (if that's the word I'm looking for?) I thought I'd post this little gem from Beyond the Fringe.

Considering they did this back in 1962 its taken a bit of time for them to hit a winner!

Lunedi Lunacy

The last few weeks at work have reminded me of this classic I Love Lucy sketch.

Need I say more????

Lunedi Lunacy

This is from one of those catch-all films the studios use to put out that allowed their stars to make cameos and earn their keep when not making features. Here's two of the greatest comedians of the time, or maybe any time!

Jay Ward and Bill Scott were bloody geniuses! Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Doright, George of the Jungle, Mr Peabody and of course: Super Chicken!

Lunedi Lunacy

Until my blog buddy Sling posted a wonderful item last week about the Smothers Brothers, I had forgotten how funny and talented a pair they were. I got a few of their earlier albums when I was a member of some record club - remember record clubs? And then as Sling recalls they got their own TV show and every Sunday night we were treated to some of the funniest, and most subversive, comedy on TV. That and the music - often the comedy hide what superb musicians they were. After you've finished laughing just give it another listen for the music. Those guys knew what they were doing - big time.

What could I possibly add to everything that's been written or said about Bob Newhart - the man is a comic genius. He's a brilliant monologist and a remarkable comic actor.

And I'm pretty sure they give the same course to bus drivers here in Roma.
