When you are attached to an Embassy, and if you lucky and have someone filling the position of what's called a Community Liaison Officer, you often get to find out about all sorts of things going on around town. We're lucky - our CLO seems to have ears and eyes everywhere - she's the one who let me in on the Propeller Theatre performances last weekend. And today she let us know about concert this coming Monday by the Puppini Sisters*.
Now I must admit I had no idea who they were - though I understand they're a bit of cult thing in the UK - I immediately looked them up on YouTube.
They aren't really sisters and only one of them is a Puppini - that would be Marcella with the accordion - the other two are Stephanie O'Brien and Kate Mullins. They met while students at Trinity Music College and very quickly became part of the alternate scene in London.
Recently a London fan was bemoaning the fact that they were so popular that they weren't playing the small clubs anymore but large venues. From what I can see on the venue website Circolo degli Artisti is more on the club side. And I don't care if it does start at 2215 on a school night - I want to see them!
*The website may take a while to load but its definately a fun visit.

These dames are terrific!
I love that there's some talented kids out there keeping this era of music alive.
I actually saw them at the Living Colours tour with Cyndi Lauper last summer. They were very fun!
I met True colors tour..
That ought to be loads of fun!
oooh i hope they come to texas...
The voices and harmonies are great, as is the back-up band! Can't wait to hear your report.
Nothing like doing sexy with 3part harmony! Fantabulous. I've always loved the Boogie Woogie Bugle boy - that version was fast!
