Christine Pedi is well-known in the New York Cabaret circuit for her uncanny ability to capture the quirks of some of the great Broadway and Hollywood Divas.
Here's her 12 Divas of Christmas:
We had: Eartha Kitt, Joan Rivers, Patti Lapone, Bernadette Peters, Carol Channing, Angela Lansbury, Jean Stapleton (believe it or not she was a Broadway musical performer - she introduced Ya Gotta Have Heart in Damn Yankees) and Julie Andrews.
She takes a break between to do a few seasonal numbers including Liza telling us about Rudolph's traumas, Bernadette Peters Caroling the Bells and the Driedel Song as only Judy could have done it.
And then we got: Elaine Stritch, Barbra, Bette Davis (yes she did two musicals, one that folded on the road) and Katherine Hepburn (yep she did a musical too, a dreadful show called Coco).
And there they are all in one marvelous performer.
With thanks to my friend Ben in Berlin for introducing me to these videos.
