Yes, the juxtaposition is a bit jarring but, in defence of popera stars, they introduce a lot of people to classical music and opera who would otherwise never get into that style of music. These days, every fan counts!
Have you read Muti's book, Willy? And what about your impressions from Moise et Pharaon? Not very exciting, eh? Especially the stage direction and the choreography!
Ciao Sophia: Haven't read it yet I was going to buy it in Milan but had the 300 page programme to cart home so thought I'd wait and see if Santa has it under the tree.
The Moise wasn't the most exciting evening I've spent in the theatre - but I actually liked the choreography and the use of projects sure as hell beat what I saw the next night at La Scala. Hoping to get something written on the Moise once I get my review of Walküre done.
