So Much Hair

It was my friend Carol-Ann's mid-birthday celebration - June 3rd being midway between her birthdays, an occasion that she believes should be celebrated. So I was looking in the Fibber McGee drawer for an appropriate card - you know something tasteful with a naked man on it. And I came across a packet of old photos - and I do mean old! Including is this high school prom night shot of Jean Buchan and myself at the Holiday Inn on Highway 427 back in ... never mind the year its not important!

I can't believe that I ever had that much hair and I don't even want to think how much hair gel went into keeping it that high. I recall going to a hair "stylist" to get ready for the big night. That was very adventuresome as all we had in our neighborhood was Fred the Barber so it meant heading to downtown Toronto - Yonge St above Bloor. It was one bus, two streetcars and a subway ride and took about an hour each way. The things you do for "la bella figura" even back then.

05 giugno - San Bonifaco

Oh my God did we ever look that young and handsome (Fabianesque). Thank goodness for wisdom and maturity. I think it definitely makes up for the ravages of time. Of course some of us look in the mirror with timeless glasses and see the face from long ago. Alas my mirror malfunctioned on my 60th birthday and I had to admit that I was not only not 25 any more but actually old (heaven forbid). Uncle Pervy

I've decided I will only go in the opposite direction from now on, always being one to go against the flow... In a few years I'll be 20 again... uh, oh... maybe I don't want to do that :)
